Fountain Inn, South Carolina

Mr. Elton A. Bates, son of the Veldon Bates and the late Faye Sullivan Fields, passed, Wednesday, April 24, 2024.

He was a member of Reedy Fork Baptist Church.  In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his children and family.  His hobby was working on computers.  He enjoyed it so much he owned Upstate Computer Repair.  By many he was known as the "I-T GUY"!  By Grandma Bates, he was known as her "Shining Star"! He was employed with Ford Motor Credit.

Left to cherish fond and loving memories of Elton, including his father Veldon, are his children; daughters, Shiloh Bates and Isabella Bates, and their mother Rachel Faber, all of Taylors, SC and son, Elton Bates Junior and his mother Chasity Reid of Columbia, SC; siblings, Linda Faye (Mikus) Sullivan-Nelson, Sterling Bates both of Fountain Inn, SC, Stedman Bates, Cameron Carter, both of Atlanta, GA and Olivia Murray; his dog-son Nino of the home; along with a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Faye Sullivan-Fields; paternal grandparents, Vivian D. Bates and John Wesley Bates and maternal grandparents, Mattie Lee Sweeney and Alfred M. Sweeney.

A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at Reedy Fork Baptist Church from 3:00PM until 5:00PM.  On Monday, April 29, 2024, a memorial service will be held at Reedy Fork Baptist Church starting at 11:00 AM.
